Remedial Massage provides a healing treatment that can be gentle or strong, deep or superficial. Remedial massage holistically treats the whole body healing both the cause of the disorder as well as the symptoms. It is often used effectively in the treatment of arthritis, frozen shoulder, muscular cramps, whiplash, fibrositis, spondylitis, muscular atrophy and sports injuries. Natural Labour Induction Massage
Natural Labour Induction  Massage

If you are overdue , anxious and  want to avoid a medical induction, Natural Labour Induction Massage can help encourage you and the baby into labour. The best time for a massage is close to the due date and after it. Certain therapeutic points and moves can be used to encourage a natural labour induction within a massage treatment. Not only does that give your body a gentle push in hopefully the right direction, it helps your mind to relax so both you and the baby will be in excellent condition on the big day. A combination of certain essential oils, acupoints, moxa, belly massage and body movements make a difference to create a positive labour response. Moreover Uterine massage involves placing  my hands on your lower abdomen and stimulating the uterus by repetitive massaging or squeezing movements. Massage is thought to stimulate uterine contraction, possibly through stimulation of local prostaglandin release. The mind is a powerful tool; the process of creating and visualizing a positive mental image can in turn manifest a physical response. You will be  encouraged to use simple visualization techniques  that are  conducive to ‘letting go’ and preparing you into the flow of labour. The more relaxed and safe you feel the more likely for your body to begin the birth process.

Labour may happen within hours or days.  If it doesn’t, you can repeat the treatment.

Postnatal Massage
Postnatal  Massage

The early postnatal period is a time for your body to readjust and recover from the birth and pregnancy. New motherhood is both joyful and exhausting, as the body is undergoing many changes. It is an important time to enhance the mother’s physical and emotional wellbeing through  focusing on massage. The revitalizing postnatal massage includes remedial massage of the lower, mid, upper back, Neck and shoulders the use of heat, specific postpartum abdominal massage, aromatherapy, and belly binding. For mothers who delivered vaginally, you are able to receive postpartum massage as soon after you deliver your baby, as you are comfortable. Most women receive a postpartum massage within the first week or two after delivery. I use abdominal massage and heat treatments to this area designed to increase circulation and to aid in the proper realignment of the organs. Bengkung belly binding is the art of wrapping a postpartum women's belly for physical support and to help hasten the recovery process after childbirth.  This belly binding technique uses a long strip of cloth to wrap around the abdomen from the hips to the rib cage.  Women are traditionally wrapped as soon after birth as possible, ideally on day five and then worn for 10 days or as long  as needed.

Abdominal / Pelvic Massage
Abdominal / Pelvic Massage

Abdominal/Pelvic massage is a special kind of massage that seeks to alleviate all these problems associated with the abdomen.  Abdominal massage focuses on applying direct pressure on the organs located within the abdominal cavity to stimulate and promote their functioning and addresses position and health of the pelvic and abdominal organs. The Abdominal Massage is a deep yet gentle, non-invasive therapy that works by bringing the organs within the abdominal area back into alignment, releasing pressure and strengthening the surrounding muscles and ligaments. This improves blood, nerve and lymph flow. Toxins are flushed and nutrients that help to tone tissue and balance hormones, are restored to normal order. The massage also focuses on removing scar tissue, helping to loosen harden debris (that has been accumulating in your gut for years) encouraging a natural movement and clearing both physical and emotional congestion, leaving you and your abdomen feeling lighter and freer.

When reproductive organs shift, they can constrict normal flow of blood and lymph, and disrupt nerve connections. Just a few extra ounces sitting on blood and lymph vessels can cause havoc throughout the different systems in the body. By shifting the uterus back into place, homeostasis, or the natural balance of the body, is restored in the pelvic area and the surrounding organs.

Old adhesions from invasive treatments to the pelvic and abdominal area, including fibroid tumors, endometriosis, and caesarean delivery are diminished when addressed by uterine massage. In addition, urinary and bladder problems can be helped as well by abdominal massage.

Individuals with digestive disorders benefit greatly from Abdominal Massage. Many of our common disorders such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Indigestion, Constipation, and heartburn, dysfunction and inflammation in the digestive system can negatively affect many other areas of the body. Our digestive organs are an important part of our immune system and are also part of our nervous system (the enteric nervous system is sometimes referred to as our “second brain“).  By using the techniques of Abdominal Massage, the upper abdomen is also given a deep, thorough massage to loosen the tight muscles around the stomach and the arteries that feed the digestive and eliminative organs with their vital blood supply. The diaphragm is gently massaged allowing relaxation of tight musculature. By improving circulation, lymph flow, and nerve conduction in the abdomen, we can make improvements in overall health and wellbeing. The massage can also release emotional and energetic tension held in the abdomen, a common place to hold stress.

The abdominal muscles also work in conjunction with the back muscles to help keep the spine erect. Any weakness in them can lead to chronic back ache, as the muscles of the back get over-stressed from sharing the majority of the load.

Menstrual pain refers to pain in the lower abdomen and hip region during the menstrual period. TCM believes the problem is mainly due to non-smooth flows of blood and qi in the pelvic region. Massage aims at promoting the flows and resolving the obstructions. Miscarriage can be a difficult experience to move through. Your body has entered a processes of mothering, if even for a short period of time. A woman should be held with love & nurture at this time. I offer a beautifully nurturing massage, including gentle abdominal work, castor oil compress and reflexology, to help you release feelings of sadness or grief, re-balance hormones  and encourage the body to heal itself.

Reflexology
Reflexology

Reflexology focuses on reflex maps of points and areas of the body in the feet, hands, and ears using unique micromovement techniques, such as thumb or finger walking, with the goal of creating a response throughout the body. Reflexologist's application of pressure to feet, hands, or ears sends a calming message from the peripheral nerves in these extremities to the central nervous system, which in turn signals the body to adjust the tension level. This enhances overall relaxation, brings internal organs and their systems into a state of optimum functioning, and increases blood supply (which brings additional oxygen and nutrients to cells and enhances waste removal). It positively affects the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, immune, and neuropeptide systems in the body. Reflexology may be beneficial in restoring balance and harmony in the body and releasing tension. It helps facilitate a deep state of relaxation, calm the emotions, and produce a serene mind. Research studies support many of these benefits.

Here are some  ways that reflexology can help you:

  • Stimulates nerve function

  • Increases energy

  • Boosts circulation

  • Eliminates toxins

  • Prevents migraines

  • Cleans urinary tract

  • Speeds up recovery time from injuries

  • Treats sleep disorders

  • Reduces depression

  • Relieves pain

  • Relives PMS, hormonal imbalances.

Facial Massage
Facial Massage

I have devised new Face Massage treatment, in response to clients wanting a particular focus on face that often get neglected, or experience minimal touch in the course of a general massage. The face is an important area to work on to relieve strains, congestion, detoxify the face tissue, stimulate the circulation and tonify freshness to the complexion. We also might be carrying a lot of tension around our jaws, eyes, temples or forehead from everyday strains, teeth grinding, headaches and migraines. The Firming and Toning Deep Tissue Facial was created to increase blood flow to relax, tone and firm the skin. This firm pressure facial releases the muscles of the face, eyes, jaw ,forehead and scalp to deliver concentrated relaxation and skin rejuvenation. Then the Facial massage is enhanced by using Gua Sha, which works the skin by using a gentle ‘scraping’ technique, smoothing and lifting the face, making the face feel invigorated, more radiant and smooth. Gua Sha is deeply relaxing, and stimulating for a lot of pressure points around the face.

Benefits of Facial Massage are:

Skin is instantly more plump and nourished through advanced massage techniques including shiatsu pressure point massage, lymphatic drainage massage and deep tissue muscle release massage.

The face, muscles, bones and fascia are released to allow blood and lymphatic flow to the deepest skin cell layers, ensuring skin is nourished with oxygen rich blood and minerals for rosy, glowing skin nurtured from the inside.

The massage clears toxins and congestion from the skin’s surface, drains fluid from puffy eyes and flushes skin of congestion, caused by sweat and outdoor pollutants, for beautiful glowing skin.

Treatment includes a deep eye treatment that completely relieves eye tension and relaxes the eye socket for deep rejuvenation.

Cupping Therapy
Cupping Therapy

Cupping is an ancient form of alternative treatment  in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage. Dry Cupping involves placing glass jars on the skin and creating a vacuum by suctioning out the air with a pump. You usually will feel a tight sensation in the area of the cup. Often, this sensation is relaxing and soothing. Depending on your comfort and your practitioner's assessment of the problem, cups may be moved around or left in place. They may remain on your body briefly or for longer amounts of time. Each treatment is unique to you on that particular day. One very common area to be cupped is the back, although cups work well on other areas, too — particularly on fleshy sections of the body. Cupping causes the skin to temporarily turn red, blue or purple, especially if there is an injury or energetic blockage under the area that was cupped. The skin discoloration can last anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, but is rarely painful. Once the marks have cleared, the procedure can be repeated until the condition or ailment is resolved.

Cupping has numerous benefits — it can help remove toxins from the body and stimulate the flow of fresh blood, lymph, and Qi to the affected area and throughout the body. It often works wonders for clients with the flu, colds, coughs, back and muscle pain, poor circulation,  allergies, fevers, aches and myriads of other pains.

Reiki
Reiki

Reiki is a therapy often described as palm healing or hands-on-body healing in which a practitioner places hands lightly on or over a patient's body to facilitate the patient's process of healing.  One of the basic ideas held by those who practice Reiki is that this vital energy can be channelled to support the body's natural ability to heal itself. Through the channelling of universal life force energy, Reiki has the capacity to heal every aspect of the body - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Reiki helps to unblock and align the chakras, and balance your energy centres. It encourages ‘shifts’ in energy leading to feelings of calm and ease, a sense of clarity and inner strength.

A Reiki treatment can assist with:

  • deep relaxation and a greater sense of wellbeing and peace

  • relief from stress, anxiety or overwhelm

  • deeper, more restful sleep

  • feeling energized, emotionally stronger and a sense of clarity

  • faster recovery or healing from illness, by relieving symptoms and uncovering possible causes – each physical ailment the body has an energetic cause

  • aiding recovery from injuries and easing muscle pain

  • bringing relief from chronic pain

  • regulating blood pressure and strengthening the immune system
